Hanneke  Wijnhoven

Hanneke Wijnhoven, PhD is Assistent professor at VU University Amsterdam, section Nutrition and Health, Department of Health Sciences. Her current research focuses on undernutrition in older persons.

Education/academic training (starting from masters):
Hanneke obtained her (first) Masters degree in Biomedical Health Sciences at the Radboud University Nijmegen in 1998 with a Major in Epidemiology. She did her Msc Internships at the Radboud University Nijmegen (6 mo) and at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, Hadera, Israel (3 mo). She obtained her Doctorate at the VU University Amsterdam in 2002. Thesis: "Disease severity and control in asthma and COPD patients (promotor: Prof.dr. M. de Haan and Prof.dr. W.A.B. Stalman). She obtained a second master degree in Medicine at University Leiden (2007).

Professional employment history:
1998-02: PhD student EMGO Institute for Health and Care Research, VU University Medical Center, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1.0 fte); 2002-04: Quantitative researcher at Vektis BV, Zeist.; 2004-05: Postdoc EMGO Institute for Health and Care Research (VUmc) and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), Bilthoven (0.9 fte); 2006-08: Postdoc (see previous) (0.4 fte) and full time student Medicine at the Leiden University; 2008-10: Postdoc section Nutrition and Health, Department of Health Sciences, VU University Amsterdam, the Netherlands (0.8 fte) 2010-present: Assistant professor section Nutrition and Health (0.8 fte).

 

Research interests: undernutrition in older persons, body composition, sex differences in health, disease severity in asthma/COPD
