Tessa van den Kommer studied Clinical and Health Psychology at Leiden University from 1997-2002. She continued her study in Amsterdam where she finished the master program Clinical Neuropsychology in 2004.
In 2006 she started working as a junior researcher at the EMGO Institute for Health and Care Research (EMGO+), VU University Medical Center (VUmc). Her PhD project focused on the association between biomarkers and cognitive decline, and prediction models of cognitive decline in older persons. As of November 2010 she is working as a post-doctoral researcher at EMGO+, VUmc. Within this position, she focuses on predictors and risk factors of memory complaints and classification models for early identification of persons (55-75 years old) with memory complaints. This research is part of the FES program Healthy cognitive aging.
In addition, Tessa works as a psychologist at 'Stichting Cordaan' in nursing and care homes for the elderly in the south region of Amsterdam. In 2008 she started her post-masters training to obtain the degree of Health Care Psychologists, which she will finish in 2011.
