Francois  Maissan

Francois Maissan was born on September 11, 1965 in Gorinchem, the Neterlands. He graduated in Physical Therapy in 1990, Manual Therapy in 1996 and Health Sciences in 2006 at Utrecht University, having specialised in Physical Therapy-Research. His master thesis focused on the effect of rater training on reliability of myoton and goniometer measurements, a clinical randomized trail.

March 2016 he started working on his PhD project at the EMGO Institute, VU University medical centre (Amsterdam) with the title: "Non-specific neck pain: To match or not to match?" The study was under the supervision of dr. Jan Pool, dr. Heriet Wittink and prof.dr. Raymond Ostelo.

The objective of this research focuses first on identifying relevant subgroups of patients with non-specific neck pain and secondly interventions that best match these different subgroups to ultimately maximize the effectiveness of these interventions.

 

He is a member of the teaching team of the master physiotherapy educational program and Junior researcher; Research group Lifestyle and Health University of Applied Sciences Utrecht

He is a member of the editorial board of Fysiopraxis, a Dutch physical therapy journal.

He is a member of the board of the Dutch Manual Therapy association
