Matthijs de Wit

Matthijs de Wit has been working as a PhD Candidate on the project 'Oncokompas2.0' since June 2015. His main area of focus is the implementation of Oncokompas2.0 (www.oncokompas.nl), a self management tool that supports cancer patients in finding and obtaining supportive care. The world of ehealth has been changing ever so fast the last few years. There are many great initiatives and examples of excellent products and services. However, adoption, implementation and maintenance are areas where’s still room for improvement. The goal of his dissertation is to asses barriers and facilitators of adoption, implementation and maintenance of Oncokompas2.0 and other ehealth services in healthcare organizations and the direct-to-consumer model. This comprises close collaboration with patients, health care professionals, and vendors.

Matthijs finished his master Clinical Psychology at the University Groningen in January 2013 and has been working in the e-mental healthcare sector ever since. His areas of focus have been online therapy, online self help, self management and recently implementation. Before starting his job as a PhD Candidate, he worked for a white label e-mental health platform vendor and he still works as head ICT for Het Behouden Huys in Haren, a psycho-oncological therapeutic center. He also worked as a freelancer for Uitgeverij Boom, transforming an existing treatment protocol into a full-fledged blended online treatment program. Amongst other things, this included the production of therapist instruction videos and example client videos for users. The past year he has been paying increased attention to the production and development of healthcare/enterprise grade (web)applications.
