Stef Bouwhuis is a PhD student at the Department of Public and Occupational Health at the EMGO+ institute of the VU University Medical Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Betwen 2005 and 2011 he studied at Radboud University Nijmegen, completing a master in Political Sciene and a Master in Urban Planning. From 2012 until 2015 he worked as a junior researcher at NIVEL, the Netherlands institute of health services research. There, his research focussed on the relationship between health care purchasers and health care providers.

Since July 2015 he works as a PhD student, using data from STREAM, the Study on Transitions, Employment, Ability and Motivation in collaboration with TNO. His research will forcus on the factors that influence 'multi-jobbing' and on the effects of multi-jobbing on health and retirement decisions.
