Jacqueline  Dekker

Jacqueline M. Dekker is Professor of Diabetes Epidemiology at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics http://www.vumc.com/branch/epidemiology-biostatistics/sections/5346003/, and co-director of the Diabetes Research Centre Hoorn of the VU University medical center.

Jacqqueline Dekker has a background in human nutrition and cardiovascular epidemiology. Since 1996 she specialized in diabetes epidemiology. She focusses on translational research of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, linking results of genetic and physiologic studies to implications for prevention and public health. Jacqueline Dekker is principal investigator of the Hoorn Study, a prospective cohort study of diabetes and diabetes complications http://www.vumc.com/branch/epidemiology-biostatistics/research/5346010/. She is chairing the National Academic Diabetes Biobank, which is part of the Dutch ‘Parelsnoer Institute’.

Next to her research, she obtained her Medical Degree in 2014. She currently combines her work as Professor of Diabetes Epidemiology with clinical work in Dermatology and the development of research on diabetes, immunology and allergology.

 Jacqueline Dekker has (co-) authored over 375 international publications.
