Jacqueline  Dekker

From 1st of July 2018, Jacqueline Dekker has left the Amsterdam UMC, location VUMC to pursue a clinical career. In the past 25 years, Jacqueline has worked at the department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and was co-director of the Diabetes Research Centre Hoorn of the VUMC.

With over 400 publications, Jacqueline’s research has contributed to translational research of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, linking results of genetic and physiologic studies to implications for prevention and public health. Jacqueline Dekker was instrumental in the set-up and management of the Hoorn Study and New Hoorn study, prospective cohort studies of diabetes and diabetes complications. In addition, she chaired until 2016 the National Academic Diabetes Biobank, which is part of the Dutch ‘Parelsnoer Institute’.

Jacqueline obtained her Medical Degree in 2014. After combining her work as a researcher with clinical work for a few years, she has decided to pursue a clinical career. For all ongoing and future collaborations please contact the Hoorn steering committee: hoornstudy@vumc.nl
