Personal information

Steve Kamper

Steve Kamper is a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the VU University Medical Centre and The George Institute at the University of Sydney, Australia. Steve is based at the EMGO+ Institute working with Raymond Ostelo, Maurits van Tulder and Tsjitske Haanstra and is supported by the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia.

He trained as a physiotherapist at the University of Sydney and received his PhD from Sydney Medical School in 2011. His research to date has focused on measurement of patient-reported outcomes, research methodology, evaluating mechanisms of back and neck pain and placebo effects. While in The Netherlands he is continuing work on these themes with collaborators here and in other centres in Europe and North America.

Representing the interests and concerns of early career researchers is also an area in which Steve spends his time. This includes running of the International Collaboration of Early Career Researchers (www.theicecream.org) blog. In his spare time he is busy trying to be more Dutch through learning Nederlands, complaining about the weather and eating stroopwafel.
