In this program research infrastructure for eight diseases will be created to collect and store clinical data and human biosamples that creates possibilities for multidisciplinary research in large scale groups of patient cohorts which may contribute to optimization of therapies. These activities are combined with activities as project coordinator Biobanking of the VUmc in which VUmc will strengthen the infrastructure for translational research in the near future. The VUmc builds on existing experience of longterm biobanking and started addtional initiatives. José Koevoets represents the VUmc in various national collaborations. Next to her daily work José Koevoets is chairman of the Commission Radiation Protection VU & VUmc.

For more than seven years José Koevoets was skilled in two large hospitals in the south of Holland as a technician in histo/cytopathology. In 1983 she started at the Department of Pathology VUmc and built up years of experience in laboratory management in this academical setting such as financial, human resource and quality management. She developed and coordinated for several years health/safety/environment policy in the laboratory division of VUmc. José Koevoets has extensive experience in project management, which varies from collaboration with clinicians and researchers (care innovation, ICT-projects and collaboration with (biotechnical) industries cooperation) to managing a European Social Fund/ESF3-project.

José Koevoets has always been active in additional functions. These were tasks within the laboratory division as well as organization-wide activities in the VUmc. Nationally she was active in associations for technologists in several groups and was a member of an editorial board for many years.
