Marcia  Adriaanse

Marcia Adriaanse was born on September 23th 1983, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. After completion of her secondary education at the Montessori Lyceum Herman Jordan in Zeist, she had a ‘gap year’ in Spain and Costa Rica, where she learned Spanish and did volunteer work. Marcia started her study Medicine at VU University in September 2002 and graduated as a medical doctor in May 2009. During her study Marcia worked in different organizations within VU University to organize courses for interns and to tutor students. She had her scientific internship in Spain where she conducted a study in approximately 900 school kids and followed additional scientific education on the University of Gerona. During her internships she also contributed by her function as chief communications officer of the Association for interns of the VU medical Center (Co-Raad VUmc).

Since May 2009 Marcia Adriaanse is appointed as a PhD-student at the department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the VU University medical center Amsterdam. She conducts a study on psychiatric disorders among Moroccan immigrant youth.
