INTERACTION between insurance physicians and their claimants during work disability assessments (WC2006-113)
Background
Starting date: 01/01/2007
Medical work disability assessments regarding entitlement for disability benefits require that social insurance physicians have specific communication skills. For this, Dutch social insurance physicians are trained in their professional education. However, no specialised, evidence-based, post-graduate communication skills training course is available for them. Therefore, this study aimed to systematically develop and evaluate such a training course to improve social insurance physicians’ knowledge about communication, their awareness of the influences of communication, and their communication behaviour during work disability assessments with claimants.
