Monitoring quality of end-of-life care: A permanent end-of-life care registration via the Dutch sentinel network of general practitioners

Background

There is a growing body of knowledge on quality of end-of-life care for specific patient groups (e.g. cancer patients) or specific settings (e.g. hospices). However, knowledge on quality of end-of-life care is not available for all diagnoses and care settings. Knowledge on indicators for good end-of life care such as patient transfers, place of death, choice of care, type of care and care outcomes is therefore lacking.
