If a physician has decided to grant a patient’s request for euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide, it is important that the medical-technical procedure is performed in a prudent way. This is one of the requirements for prudent practice that have been established for the performance of euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide in the Netherlands. However, the advice that is given with regard to which euthanatics to use is not based on systematic research.
