Accurate prediction of hearing help seeking and hearing aid uptake: Do new predictors and subgroup effects hold the key to success? (WC 2013-005)

Background

Starting date: 01/12/2012

Hearing loss is one of the most common and most disabling chronic conditions in older adults. However, the numbers of older adults seeking hearing help and taking up hearing aids remain disappointingly low over the past decades. Recent literature reviews convincingly show that the factors that cause this are still largely unknown. Moreover, no study ever investigated the possibility of subgroup-specific effects and very few studies applied appropriate statistics.
