Collaborative care in the treatment of depressive disorder containing an antidepressant algorithm and PST; a multicentre cluster randomized trial in primary care. (WC2006-013b)

Background

Starting date: 01/06/2006 Background
The global burden of depressive disorder for society and individual patients is enormous: it is expected to be one of the top-2 leading causes of disability adjusted life years in 2020 . This situation is no different in the Netherlands where 10% of attending persons in primary care is suffering from depression. Optimizing treatment for depressive disorder in primary care therefore deserves special attention. Collaborative care may play an important role in this process. Following positive experiences with this model in the United States, our research group has developed the CC:DIP-protocol.
