Late life schizophrenia: a descriptive study of psychopathology, social functioning and needs of care in an urban cohort of elderly schizophrenic patients (SOUL) (WC2006-106)

Background

Starting date: 01/09/2006 Elderly schizophrenic patients are a vulnerable group, which is expected to grow rapidly in the next few decades. There is still a paucity of data concerning this group, not only on specific aspects of psychopathology and cognition but also on social functioning and needs of care. More data are required both for clinical practice and adequate healthcare policies. It is suggested that one of the relevant aspects for outcome in old age is age at onset of the disorder.
