Starting date: 01/09/2014

Every year more than 3.000 children are exposed to very problematic custody and visitation battles. We label these divorces High-Conflict Divorce Cases (HCDC, vechtscheidingen; Spruijt, 2007). HCDC are common and brings tremendous costs to individuals, relationships, and society. Being involved in a high conflict divorce is traumatic and damaging for children and adults. While links between HCDC and various psychosocial problems among children are well-established, the specific processes underlying these associations are poorly understood. This lack of understanding hampers the development of effective interventions.
