Objectives

Starting date: 01/03/2007

The aim of the study is to assess the effects of self-monitoring of blood glucose and urine glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes who are not using insulin compared to usual care. Main outcome measures are changes in diabetes specific emotional distress and self efficacy. Secondary outcome measures include changes in glycaemic control, patient treatment satisfaction, occurrence of hypoglycaemic events, physical activity, costs of direct and indirect (non) healthcare and changes in illness beliefs according to the self-regulation theory.
